The Directorate of Secondary and Higher Education (DSHE) has directed all government and private secondary-level educational institutions to conduct annual examinations, junior scholarship examinations, and selection tests without fail and on the stipulated dates.
A circular signed by DSHE Director Prof Dr Khan Mainuddin Al Mahmud Sohel was issued today Monday (1 December). It warned that any laxity or irregularity by teachers or officials in holding these examinations will invite disciplinary action under the rules.
The directive comes on the same day teachers of MPO-enrolled institutions began an indefinite work abstention demanding ninth-grade pay scale and other benefits.
According to the circular:
- Annual examinations are scheduled from 20 November to 7 December (as per the Ministry of Education notification dated 17 February).
- Selection tests will run from 27 November to 11 December.
- Junior scholarship examinations across the country are fixed from 28 November to 31 December (as per DSHE letter dated 29 October).
The circular urged all concerned, regional deputy directors, district education officers, upazila secondary education officers, principals, and head teachers, to ensure these examinations are conducted smoothly and on time.
It explicitly stated that failure to comply will lead to appropriate action against the responsible teachers and officials.
The circular has been sent to all relevant authorities nationwide.
