Bangladesh Government Employees Welfare Association (Central Convener Committee) has submitted a memorandum to the Prime Minister demanding the immediate announcement and gazette publication of a new national pay scale for government officials and employees.

A 8-member delegation led by Convener Abdul Malek and Member Secretary Ashikul Islam handed over the memorandum at the Prime Minister’s Office on Monday (2 March).

The memorandum states that nearly a decade has passed since the last pay scale was announced in 2015. During this period, prices of essentials, house rent, medical costs, and education expenses have risen significantly, putting government employees under increasing financial pressure.

In this context, the association demanded a revision of the salary structure in line with current living costs, elimination of salary disparities across grades, and enhancement of welfare benefits for government employees.

Leaders of the association expressed hope that the Prime Minister’s kind intervention would lead to consideration of their legitimate demands and the swift announcement of a new national pay scale.
