The Directorate of Primary Education has confirmed that the Assistant Teacher Recruitment Examination will be held as previously scheduled on Friday, 2 January, despite the three-day state mourning declared following the death of former Prime Minister and BNP Chairperson Begum Khaleda Zia.

SM Mahbub Alam, Research Officer of the Primary Education Directorate, told The Daily Campus on Tuesday (30 December): “No final decision has been received from the government side regarding postponement of the assistant teacher recruitment examination. Therefore, all preparations are being made according to the previously announced schedule.”

He added: “The assistant teacher recruitment examination will be held on 2 January. However, if any change is decided in the examination schedule, it will be informed in due time.”

Earlier, various rumours circulated on social media claiming that the primary teacher recruitment examination had been postponed. Many pages and IDs spread information that the test was cancelled. However, the Primary Education Directorate clarified that these rumours are false and the examination will be held on the scheduled date, 2 January.

According to a notice issued by the Primary Education Directorate on Friday (26 December), the examination for the post of ‘Accounts Assistant’ under its jurisdiction was postponed due to allegations of question paper leakage. Following this, rumours spread that the teacher recruitment examination had also been cancelled, which became a topic of discussion on social media.

In response, the Primary Education Directorate issued a notice on the same night stating that the recruitment examination for assistant teachers in government primary schools-2025 will be held on Friday, 2 January. The notice said: “The written examination for recruitment to the post of assistant teacher in government primary schools will be held on 2 January from 10:00 am to 11:00 am in the respective districts of the applicants. Candidates must enter the centre by 9:00 am.”

It further stated that SMS containing instructions for downloading the admit card will be sent from 01552-146056 to the mobile number provided in the application. Candidates can download and print their admit card from Saturday (27 December) at 10:00 am onwards by logging in at admit.dpe.gov.bd using username and password, or using SSC roll, board, and passing year.

Candidates must bring a colour printout of the downloaded admit card and their original National ID/Smart Card to participate in the examination. Instructions for filling the OMR sheet and other examination-related information will be available on the admit card.

It is strictly prohibited to bring mobile phones, any books, answer sheets, notes or other papers, calculators, vanity bags, purses, wristwatches or watch-like items, electronic wristwatches or any electronic devices, communication devices or similar items into the examination centre or to keep them in possession. If any candidate enters the centre with the mentioned items, he/she will be immediately expelled and legal action will be taken against him/her. The notice also advised candidates to be cautious of any fraudulent activities by unscrupulous persons.
