Police Announce Recruitment of 10,000 Constables, How to Apply

Bangladesh Police has published a recruitment circular for the post of Constable. The announcement was made through an official notification on Thursday afternoon (26 February).

Home Minister Salahuddin Ahmed had earlier confirmed the major recruitment drive during a press talk at the Secretariat on Thursday. He said increasing police manpower is among the government's top priorities. A proposal has already been sent to the Finance Ministry, and the formal circular will be issued immediately after clearance.

The Home Minister stated: “We are relentlessly working to increase police manpower. Once clearance is received from the Finance Ministry, the formal process and notification for recruiting 10,000 new constables will begin.” He added that recruitment for 180 vacant Sergeant posts will also be expedited, and instructions have been given to the relevant departments. The process will be transparent and conducted through proper examinations.

In addition, the Ministry of Home Affairs has issued strict directives to reconstitute law and order committees at district and upazila levels. The minister emphasized strengthening coordination between police and local administration to ensure public safety at the grassroots level. An office order was issued today in this regard. These committees are expected to play an effective role in curbing crime through community involvement.

The government has also planned special measures to enhance traffic police capacity, reduce urban traffic congestion, and prevent road accidents.

Eligibility Criteria

• Educational Qualification: Candidates must have passed SSC or equivalent from any recognized board with a minimum GPA of 2.50.
• Age Limit: Applicants must be between 18 and 20 years old.
• Marital Status: Candidates must be unmarried.
• Physical Standards
  • Height (Male): Minimum 5 feet 6 inches
  • Height (Female): Minimum 5 feet 4 inches
  • Weight: Must be proportionate to height and age as per approved standards
  • Vision: 6/6 eyesight required

Application Period Online applications will start on 5 March and continue until 31 March.
