Every year, foreign students are admitted to Bangladesh’s government medical and dental colleges. Continuing this tradition, 126 foreign students have been allocated seats for the MBBS and BDS courses in the 2024-25 academic year. This information was recently published in a notice on the website of the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare.

According to the notice from the Medical Education-1 branch of the ministry, these students were selected based on merit and preferences under the SAARC and non-SAARC quotas. For MBBS under the SAARC quota, the breakdown is as follows: 22 students from India, 21 from Pakistan, 19 from Nepal, 20 from Bhutan, and 12 from Sri Lanka. For BDS under the SAARC quota, six students were selected—two each from Pakistan, Nepal, and Bhutan.

Under the non-SAARC quota, 24 students were allocated for MBBS: 15 from Palestine, 7 from Malaysia, 1 from the United States, and 1 from Canada. For BDS, two students from Malaysia were selected under the non-SAARC quota. In total, 26 foreign students were allocated seats under the non-SAARC quota.

Students must complete their admission process by June 15. The notice also instructed that the respective embassies or missions of the students’ countries be informed to take necessary actions.
