Nation to Observe One Minute Symbolic Blackout Tomorrow Night
A one-minute symbolic blackout will be observed across the country on the night of Wednesday, March 25, to commemorate Genocide Day. The blackout is scheduled to take place from 10:30 PM to 10:31 PM nationwide, according to an official government handout released on Monday.
This annual observance serves as a solemn tribute to the martyrs who lost their lives during the horrific "Operation Searchlight" launched by the Pakistani occupation forces on the dark night of March 25, 1971.
Authorities have clarified that Key Point Installations (KPIs), emergency facilities, and foreign missions located within Bangladesh will be exempt from the blackout to ensure the continued operation of essential services.
In addition to the blackout, the government has imposed a restriction on any form of decorative lighting at all government, semi-government, autonomous, and private buildings on the night of March 25.
The Ministry of Liberation War Affairs and other departments have also organized a series of programs, including special prayers, seminars, and photographic exhibitions, to mark the day with due solemnity.
