RAW Chief Parag Jain Arrives in Dhaka

Parag Jain, Secretary of the Research and Analysis Wing (RAW) and Special Secretary of the Special Protection Group (SPG), landed at Shahjalal International Airport on Sunday aboard an Air India flight. He was accompanied by a three-member delegation comprising Ashween Mukund Kotnis, Rahul Neri, and Shaibal Roy Chowdhury. The visit, which has not been officially announced by either government, was initiated at the invitation of Bangladesh's Directorate General of Forces Intelligence (DGFI).

This intelligence engagement follows a visit to New Delhi in March by Bangladesh DGFI Chief Major General Kaysar Rashid Chowdhury, during which he held extensive talks with Indian military intelligence chief Lieutenant General R.S. Raman to revive security cooperation following the political transition in Bangladesh.

The arrival of the Indian intelligence chief coincides with diplomatic engagements scheduled for Monday, as Indian High Commissioner to Bangladesh Dinesh Trivedi meets with Bangladeshi Prime Minister Tarique Rahman. The meeting takes place amid renewed bilateral friction following a press conference held by Sheikh Hasina in New Delhi last Wednesday.

Despite the political tensions surrounding the former leader, Bangladesh has requested additional diesel supplies from India to address domestic energy challenges. During Monday's discussions, High Commissioner Trivedi is also scheduled to formally convey an invitation from the Indian government for Prime Minister Tarique Rahman to attend the upcoming BRICS summit in Delhi next month, alongside an invitation for a formal bilateral visit.
