Employees Could Enjoy Up to 12 Days of Eid Holidays
The government has already declared March 18 as a public holiday to facilitate smooth Eid travel, giving government employees a continuous 7-day break from March 17 to March 23 (Eid-ul-Fitr period).
If employees take casual leave on March 24 (Monday) and March 25 (Tuesday), the total holiday stretch would cover:
- March 17–23 (7 days Eid holiday)
- March 21–22 (Friday–Saturday weekend, already included)
- March 24–25 (taken leave)
- March 26 (public holiday for Independence and National Day)
This would result in a full 12-day break (March 17 to March 28 inclusive), with only Sunday, March 29 marking the return to work for most government offices.
Primary and Mass Education State Minister Bobby Hajjaj confirmed the March 18 holiday to media on March 5, noting that the extended break is designed to ease pressure on transport during the Eid rush. No bus fare hikes are expected, and monitoring of transport services has been strengthened.
