9th Pay Scale Approved, Maximum Salary Set at Tk 156,000, Minimum Tk 20,000

The Cabinet has approved the proposed ninth pay scale for government officials and employees, setting the salary for Grade 1 at Tk 156,000 and the lowest, Grade 20, at Tk 20,000.

The proposal was approved at a Cabinet meeting held on Monday (August 31), attended by the relevant ministers, state ministers and secretaries. Cabinet Secretary Nasimul Gani is expected to brief the media on the decision shortly.

According to sources, the proposed salary structure was approved after extensive discussions and a review of various aspects of the new pay framework. The proposal includes revised salaries for government employees across different grades.

Following the discussions, the Cabinet approved a Grade 1 salary of Tk 156,000, while the salary for Grade 20 was set at Tk 20,000.

Following Cabinet approval, the necessary administrative procedures will now be completed to implement the new pay scale. Sources said it may take around a week to publish the gazette notification on the approved salary structure.

The gazette will formally clarify the effective date of the new pay scale, the full grade-wise salary structure and other benefits and allowances.
