Press Briefing: Panel Sets Up 14-Member Task Force

A committee tasked with evaluating the professional demands of BSc and Diploma engineers in Bangladesh held its first meeting on August 28, 2025, and decided to establish a 14-member working group led by the Housing and Public Works Secretary to address these issues. The decision was announced by Syeda Rizwana Hasan, Advisor to the Ministries of Environment, Forest and Climate Change, and Water Resources, during a press briefing after the meeting at the Secretariat’s Building No. 1 in Dhaka.
The meeting, chaired by Muhammad Fouzul Kabir Khan, Advisor to the Ministries of Power, Energy and Mineral Resources, Road Transport and Bridges, and Railways, addressed long-standing concerns raised by engineers. Rizwana Hasan noted, “These issues are not new; they’ve existed for a long time. To resolve them, we need consultations with all stakeholders. Thus, we’ve formed a 14-member working group, including heads of organizations that recruit engineers, four representatives from Diploma engineers, and members from the Public Administration and Law Ministries.”
She added that the working group will first hear from both BSc and Diploma engineers, starting the next working day, to gather insights from knowledgeable representatives in the sector. The committee aims to review documents and provide recommendations based on these consultations.
The meeting began earlier that day in the small conference room of the Senior Secretary’s office at the Public Administration Ministry. Six members attended, including advisors Fouzul Kabir Khan, Adilur Rahman Khan (Advisor to the Ministries of Industries and Housing and Public Works), and Rizwana Hasan, alongside Engineer Mohammad Rezaul Islam (President, Institution of Engineers, Bangladesh), Engineer Md. Kabir Hossain (President, Institution of Diploma Engineers, Bangladesh), and Kazi Muhammad Mozammel Haque (Additional Secretary, Public Administration Ministry, and committee member-secretary).
