The gazette notification for the much-anticipated Ninth National Pay Scale for government employees is in the final stage of the publication process. If everything proceeds as planned, the new pay structure could be gazetted on September 10, a Finance Ministry official involved in the process has said.

The draft resolution has already been sent to the Bangladesh Government Press (BG Press). After completing the necessary procedures there, the draft will be returned to the Finance Ministry before being sent to the Law Ministry for vetting.

Following the legal vetting, an SRO number will be issued and the gazette notification will be published.

A Finance Ministry official involved in the pay scale-related work told The Daily Campus that the resolution was sent to BG Press on Wednesday.

“After the process at BG Press is completed, it will come back to the Finance Ministry. It will then be sent to the Law Ministry for vetting. Finally, the gazette will be published with an SRO number,” the official said.

“We do not want any delay in publishing the gazette. It is only taking the time required for the procedural steps. We hope it will be completed within this week,” the official added.

Ninth pay scale approved by Cabinet

The Cabinet approved the Ninth National Pay Scale on August 31. Under the new pay structure, the pay scale will be effective from July 1, 2026. The gazette notification will formally set out the approved pay structure and related provisions for government employees.
