Prime Minister Tarique Rahman officially inaugurated the national "Family Card" distribution programme at Sreemangal in Moulvibazar on Wednesday. Organized by the Ministry of Social Welfare, the launch event took place at around 1:45 PM at the historic Victoria High School ground.

During the inaugural ceremony, the head of government digitally dispatched the monthly allowance for June straight to the mobile bank accounts of 155 primary beneficiaries. He also personally handed over financial assistance to several underprivileged and vulnerable families present at the venue before the remaining allowances were delivered online.

Earlier in the morning, the Prime Minister arrived in Sylhet at around 10:20 AM before heading towards Moulvibazar by road. Following the conclusion of the public event, he departed for the DuSai Resort for a brief rest, which will be followed by his participation in a regional political meeting. The Prime Minister is slated to depart for Dhaka from Sylhet Osmani International Airport later this evening.

The administrative framework of the newly introduced Family Card scheme forms part of a broader government effort to strengthen the social safety net for vulnerable citizens. Alongside the distribution of the core family cards, the Prime Minister oversaw the distribution of customized financial grants and healthcare checks to various distressed demographics in the region.

Special medical grant checks worth BDT 50,000 each were handed over to five patients suffering from critical illnesses, including cancer, kidney diseases, liver cirrhosis, stroke-induced paralysis, congenital heart diseases, and thalassemia. Furthermore, five individuals belonging to marginalized small ethnic groups and indigenous communities received BDT 10,000 each for livelihood development, alongside an additional BDT 10,000 each given to five students from those communities as one-time educational assistance.

The government also disbursed BDT 10,000 each as special emergency aid to 100 individuals identified as severely distressed, helpless, disabled, or homeless. In a bid to secure permanent rehabilitation for marginalized laborers, the Prime Minister officially handed over sustainable housing allocation certificates worth BDT 200,000 each to five local tea garden workers.

The high-profile executive visit triggered widespread celebration and political enthusiasm among local party activists and common citizens across the district. Given the significance of the state visit, law enforcement agencies deployed rigorous, multi-tiered security protocols across Moulvibazar to ensure absolute safety.
