Students Can Start University Right After College by 2028: Education Minister
The government is working resolutely to eliminate session jams across all academic levels, ensuring that students can transition seamlessly into higher education. Education and Primary and Mass Education Minister Dr. A.N.M. Ehsanul Hoque Milan today announced that by 2028, structural delays will be completely phased out, enabling students to begin their university studies immediately after finishing their college examinations.
The Education Minister made the remarks as the chief guest while inaugurating the 'Primary Education Medal Competition 2026' on Monday. The national-level sports event was organized at the Government College of Physical Education playground in Mohammadpur, the capital.
Addressing the gathering of educators, student-athletes, and administrative officials, Dr. Ehsanul Hoque Milan emphasized that comprehensive revisions are underway to overhaul the academic ecosystem and alleviate structural pressures on families.

The Minister further stated that a strategic process has been initiated to transform the country’s massive population into skilled human capital. He noted that the education sector has secured the highest budget allocation this term, reflecting the government's commitment to executing a revolutionary transformation across primary and secondary educational systems.
To restore the academic calendar and minimize transition gaps, the Minister assured that administrative machinery has been accelerated. In a major directive to the education boards, he announced that the Higher Secondary Certificate (HSC) examination results will be formally published within the next two months.
The Primary Education Medal Competition marks an annual national milestone aimed at fostering physical education, competitive sportsmanship, and mental resilience among primary school students across various districts. Senior officials from both the Ministry of Education and the Directorate of Primary Education were present during the opening multi-sport event tracks.
