Inqilab Moncho Convener and independent candidate for Dhaka-8 constituency Sharif Osman Hadi remains under close observation at Evercare Hospital in the capital.

On Saturday morning (13 December), the organisation stated that Hadi is still not out of danger and his condition cannot be confirmed until 48 hours have passed.

Around 10:15 am, Inqilab Moncho Member Secretary Abdullah Al Jaber told media from Evercare Hospital: "Osman Hadi has internal response, but he is not yet out of danger. Doctors are keeping him under 48-hour observation and cannot say more at this moment." He urged the nation to pray for Hadi's speedy recovery. Jaber has been at the hospital since the attack.

From Saturday morning, leaders and activists from Inqilab Moncho, Moncho-24 and other platforms gathered outside Evercare to enquire about his health.

Around 10:30 am, Moncho-24 Convener Fahim Faruki spoke to media at the hospital gate. He alleged the attack was planned and claimed evidence points to involvement of members from the banned Chhatra League. He accused the government of showing inability to arrest the culprits and said those who participated in the July uprising are now facing security threats. He demanded swift justice for those involved.

Hadi was shot on Friday (12 December) afternoon during campaigning in Bijoynagar, Paltan. He was initially taken to DMCH in critical condition and transferred to Evercare at night after initial surgery.

DMCH Director Brigadier General Md Asaduzzaman said yesterday afternoon that the bullet entered near the right ear and exited on the left side of the head. Neuro-surgery specialists performed initial surgery. Life support was provided due to critical condition.

The attack, coming a day after the announcement of the 13th parliamentary election schedule (voting on 12 February), has raised concerns over law and order from various political parties. BNP, Jamaat-e-Islami and others have condemned the incident and demanded immediate arrest of the attackers.
