Cyber fraudsters have developed new methods to hack bank accounts without needing OTPs or PINs. They send messages that appear identical to official bank notifications, tricking users into clicking links. A single click can transfer sensitive banking information directly to the criminals, allowing them to withdraw money instantly.

The main techniques include phishing links that create fake bank websites with real logos, call merging where a second fake call is inserted during a legitimate conversation to capture OTPs, voicemail or screen-sharing scams that exploit user trust, and fraudulent QR codes that activate malicious links upon scanning.

To stay safe, never click on unknown links, messages, or calls. Do not share account details, passwords, PINs, or OTPs through any unofficial channel. Always verify suspicious communications by calling the bank’s official hotline. Avoid downloading apps from untrusted sources and limit personal information on social media to prevent targeted attacks.

If fraud occurs, immediately inform the bank’s customer care and request to freeze or block the account. Remove any suspicious apps from your phone and run a security scan. Save all evidence such as screenshots, messages, and call logs for reporting to the bank and police.

Technology offers convenience, but security must come first. One careless click can lead to major financial loss. Always verify before trusting, and share this information to help others stay protected.
