Following day-long torrential downpours across the capital that have triggered severe waterlogging on various primary roads and connecting alleys, the Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) has issued an urgent advisory for ongoing Higher Secondary Certificate (HSC) and equivalent examinees. The law enforcement agency has urged candidates to leave their residences with ample time in hand to navigate potential gridlocks and slow-moving traffic.

The special instructional notice was issued today, Sunday (July 12) afternoon, through an official press release from the Media and Public Relations Division of the DMP.

According to the DMP press release, the continuous heavy rainfall over the past few days coupled with the ongoing monsoon season has left several low-lying areas of Dhaka heavily inundated. This has significantly slowed down traffic, particularly during the morning rush hours, causing fears of prolonged traffic congestion across major intersections. To ensure that students can reach their respective centers smoothly and strictly within the schedule, the DMP has strongly advised candidates to set out much earlier than usual.

Meanwhile, the DMP’s Traffic Division confirmed that traffic personnel have been deployed on the streets with heightened alertness since morning to ensure the safe and uninterrupted movement of examinees despite the hostile weather. The Dhaka Metropolitan Police has also requested candidates and their guardians to seek immediate assistance from on-duty roadside police officers if they encounter any unforeseen emergencies or severe gridlocks on their way to the examination centers.
