Temperature set to drop again: How long will it last?

As mid-Magh arrives, the intense winter grip across Bangladesh has noticeably eased. While northern and central regions still feel chilly in the early morning, eastern parts experience a spring-like warmth by afternoon.

Amid this mixed weather pattern, the Bangladesh Meteorological Department has forecast a slight drop in temperature in the coming days.

On Sunday (1 February) at 9:00 am, the lowest temperature was recorded in Chuadanga at 10.2°C, while Dhaka recorded 17.2°C.

Other divisional headquarters recorded the following minimum temperatures:
- Rajshahi: 10.8°C  
- Barishal: 12.8°C  
- Khulna: 13.5°C  
- Sylhet: 13.8°C  
- Rangpur: 14.8°C  
- Mymensingh: 15.5°C  
- Chattogram: 16.0°C  

Latest forecast

- Today (1 February): The sky may remain partly cloudy temporarily across the country, but weather will generally stay dry. Light to moderate fog is likely in some places from late night to morning. Night and day temperatures are expected to remain nearly unchanged.

- Tomorrow (2 February): Night temperature may rise slightly across the country, while day temperature is likely to remain nearly unchanged.

- Day after (3 February): Both night and day temperatures are expected to remain almost unchanged.

- 4 February: Night temperature may rise slightly. Day temperature may either decrease or remain unchanged.

- 5 February: Night temperature is likely to remain nearly unchanged, while day temperature may decrease slightly.

The Met Office has not indicated any significant cold wave returning in the immediate days, but the forecast points to a mild cooling trend starting from 4–5 February, particularly noticeable during daytime. No major rainfall or cold wave is currently expected in the next five days.
