School and College Teachers Unlikely to Receive May Salary Before Eid-ul-Adha
Non-government school, college, madrasa, and technical education teachers under the Monthly Pay Order (MPO) enlistment are highly unlikely to receive their salaries for the month of May before Eid-ul-Adha, which is scheduled to be celebrated nationwide on May 28.
Although the processing and initial submission of the May salary bills have already been completed, top administrative sources within the education sector indicated that bureaucratic hurdles and logistical constraints will stall final disbursements until after the festival.
Ministerial absence and financial clearances stall progress
According to high-level officials within the Directorate of Secondary and Higher Education (DSHE) and the Technical and Madrasah Education Division (TMED), executing a pre-Eid salary disbursement for May would require a special executive directive from the Education Minister, alongside swift, exceptional clearance from the Ministry of Finance.
However, the Education Minister is currently staying abroad on official duty. Ministry insiders noted that even if the minister returns and attempts to fast-track the files, the remaining timeline is mathematically insufficient to navigate the multi-tiered financial approval process before the holidays commence.
Official confirmation from education boards
When approached for comment on the development, DSHE Director (Finance and Procurement) Professor Mohammad Monir Hossain Patwary stated that school and college teachers should not expect their May wages before the Eid vacation.
"There is no realistic possibility of school and college teachers receiving their May salary before Eid," Professor Patwary confirmed. "As for the technical and madrasa education sectors, their respective divisions are better positioned to provide a definitive status."
Echoing this observation, a Deputy Secretary from the Technical and Madrasah Education Division, speaking on the condition of anonymity, stated that their department traditionally syncs its disbursement timeline with mainstream secondary education.
"If the Secondary and Higher Education Division initiates a special measure to clear the May salaries before Eid, we will follow suit," the official explained. "However, if they take no such step, we will not proceed independently. As things stand, we see virtually no probability of the May salary being cleared before Eid-ul-Adha."
