Overview of the Enrollment Screening Process
According to data provided by the Bar Council, a total of 37,080 law graduates applied for this year's preliminary screening exam. To obtain registration as an advocate and gain the formal right to practice law across the country's subordinate courts, aspiring lawyers must clear a rigorous three-step screening system governed by the Bar Council's Enrollment Committee:
-
Stage 1: Preliminary Multiple Choice Question (MCQ) Test
-
Stage 2: Written Examination
-
Stage 3: Viva Voce (Oral Interview)
The 9,201 candidates who cleared the initial hurdle are now eligible to sit for the written examination. The dates and schedule for the second-phase examination will be announced by the authorities in due course. Check Results Here.
Next Steps and Relief Regulations
The Bar Council notification highlighted that all successful candidates must log onto the official Teletalk portal to finalize their registration and secure their seats for the upcoming written tests.
Under the existing guidelines managed by the Bar Council’s Enrollment Committee, candidates who manage to pass the written test are given a structural buffer. If an individual fails the subsequent oral exam (viva voce) after passing the written component, they are exempted from restarting the loop. Such candidates are eligible to directly appear for the viva voce up to three consecutive times without having to re-take the preliminary MCQ or written evaluations.
