Notice Demands Travel Ban on Dr. Muhammad Yunus
A legal notice has been sent to the government demanding a travel ban on Chief Adviser Dr. Muhammad Yunus and 24 other former members of the interim government’s advisory council.
The notice was issued by Supreme Court lawyer Barrister M. Ashraful Islam on Monday (6 April). It was sent via registered post to the Cabinet Secretary, Health Secretary, Home Secretary, and other relevant secretaries.
Reason for the Notice:
The notice alleges that Dr. Yunus and the former advisors were involved in shifting the measles vaccine programme from the public sector to private companies, which contributed to the current deadly measles outbreak across the country. Over a hundred children have already died, and thousands more are hospitalised.
The notice demands:
- Immediate formation of an investigation committee.
- Imposition of a travel ban on Dr. Muhammad Yunus, Dr. Asif Nazrul, Syeda Rizwana Hasan, Adilur Rahman Khan, Nurjahan Begum, Brigadier General (Retd) Sakhawat Hossain, Jahangir Alam Chowdhury, Mostafa Sarwar Farooki, Press Secretary Shafiqul Alam, and all other former advisors and their personal staff.
- The ban should remain in place until the investigation is completed.
Barrister M. Ashraful Islam stated that if the government fails to take necessary action within 5 days of receiving the notice, he will initiate appropriate legal steps.
This notice comes amid growing public concern over the recent surge in measles cases and questions regarding decisions taken during the interim government’s tenure.
