Education Ministry Warns of Fraud Using Fake Numbers, Officials’ Photos
The Ministry of Education has issued a public alert after discovering that fraudsters are using photographs of senior officials and fake mobile numbers to demand money from individuals. The ministry has emphasized that these activities are entirely fraudulent and have no connection to the ministry or its officials.
In a press release issued on Saturday night (7 March), the ministry stated: “Recently, it has been observed that some unscrupulous individuals are using photographs of senior officials from the Ministry of Education and fake mobile numbers to demand money from various persons. This is completely fraudulent, and the Ministry of Education has no involvement in it whatsoever.”
The statement urged the public not to be misled by such fraudulent phone calls, messages, or communications on social media. It strongly advised against sending money or sharing personal information under any circumstances with these fake numbers.
The ministry is closely monitoring the situation and has confirmed that legal action is being taken against those involved.
This warning comes amid rising complaints of impersonation scams targeting government officials’ images to deceive people, particularly in sensitive sectors such as education where job seekers, teachers, and parents are often contacted with false promises or threats.
The ministry reiterated that all official communications will come only through verified channels and urged citizens to verify any suspicious contact by reaching out directly to the relevant office.
