The candidacy of a female applicant for the Primary Assistant Teacher Recruitment Exam 2025 has been cancelled after a discrepancy was found between the handwriting on her written examination paper and the sample provided during her viva. Following the discovery, the candidate was summoned back from her residence and taken into police custody.

The detained candidate is identified as Asma Khatun (Roll No. 5924054).

The Discovery of Discrepancy

According to a press release issued by the Satkhira District Administration Media Cell, the incident occurred during the viva voce on Thursday (January 29). During the board interview, the candidate's live handwriting was compared with the handwriting on her written exam OMR sheet.

Finding a significant mismatch, the viva board deemed the situation suspicious and immediately cancelled her candidacy.

Legal Proceedings and Arrest

Following the board's decision, the District Primary Education Department filed a regular case. Upon the filing of the case, Satkhira Sadar Police arrived at the scene and took the woman into custody.

Masudur Rahman, the Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Satkhira Sadar Police Station, confirmed the matter, stating, "A regular case has been filed regarding this incident."

Humanitarian Concerns and "Inhumane" Procedures

Md. Ruhul Amin, the Upazila Primary Education Officer, provided further details, noting that the candidate was kept at the Deputy Commissioner’s (DC) office until late at night. He mentioned that while the candidate's poor performance in the viva suggested a potential proxy-examinee situation, the process of her arrest was "inhumane."

"The girl did not do well in the viva. This led to the suspicion that someone else might have taken the exam for her. However, the way the incident happened is inhumane. The girl is poor, her husband is likely disabled, and she has two children. She had already finished her viva and gone home. Later, she was summoned back from her house and detained," Ruhul Amin stated.

He further added that although he was instructed to file the complaint at the police station, he was not updated on her latest status.

Silence from the District Administration

Efforts were made to contact Satkhira District Collector (DC) Afroza Akter multiple times to obtain her statement regarding the procedure of summoning the candidate from her home for detention. However, she did not receive the calls, and no comment was obtained.
