Students march from Dhaka College to Dhanmondi 32 with bulldozers on Hasina verdict day
On the day the International Crimes Tribunal pronounces its verdict against ousted Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina in a crimes against humanity case over the July-August 2024 mass killings, two bulldozers are being taken towards Dhanmondi 32, sources said. Students from Dhaka College are leading the programme.
In addition, students and people have taken out a bulldozer march against demands for Hasina's hanging and destructive activities by leaders and activists of the banned Awami League.
On Monday (17 November), students and common people gathered in front of the main gate of Dhaka College before setting out towards Dhanmondi 32 with bulldozers in a protest march. Earlier, they burnt an effigy of Sheikh Hasina in front of the main gate.
During the bulldozer march, students chanted slogans like "Get the rope, hang Hasina", "We want hanging, hanging for killer Hasina" and "Interim, where are you going, you will hang Hasina".
It is learnt that on the day of the verdict on Hasina's trial, the programme has been organised under a banner of common students and people to erase all her memorials. Organisers said a playground for children will be built by demolishing Hasina's house at Dhanmondi 32.
Dhaka College student Jahid Hossain said, "In the context of the judiciary ensuring the highest punishment of hanging for fascist Hasina for the kind of mass killings she carried out in the country, this is our programme today. We know that Sheikh Mujib established Awami League as a fascist force through Baksal. Later, Sheikh Hasina continued that legacy for the last 17 years. By completely eradicating the house at Dhanmondi 32 number with a bulldozer, this fascism can be driven out."
