Chief Justice Dr. Syed Refaat Ahmed has called a Full Court meeting of all judges from the Supreme Court’s Appellate and High Court Divisions, scheduled for Tuesday, November 4, at 3:00pm in the Supreme Court Conference Room. The announcement was made via a notice signed by Additional Registrar (Administration & Judicial) Md. Asif Iqbal on Saturday.

Supreme Court sources revealed that the meeting will deliberate on crucial judicial matters, including transfers and promotions of lower court judges, alongside other significant administrative and policy decisions.

As the guardian and interpreter of Bangladesh’s Constitution, the Supreme Court is the highest judicial authority, led by the Chief Justice as head of the judiciary. It functions through the Appellate Division and High Court Division. A Full Court meeting is convened when all judges from both divisions participate, and only the Chief Justice holds the authority to summon it.

These rare and high-level gatherings allow the Chief Justice to consult the entire bench on judicial governance, policy formulation, lower court management, and urgent national judicial issues. While not a judicial proceeding, the Full Court ensures consensus, transparency, and unity in judicial administration.

This upcoming session highlights the judiciary’s ongoing commitment to structural reform, accountability, and efficient justice delivery in the current era.
