A striking new campaign has taken over Bangladeshi social media as female celebrities post a single number on their photos, revealing how many times they face online abuse, harassment or cyberbullying every single day.
The movement, titled “My Number, My Rules”, was launched on 25 November by popular actress Nusrat Imrose Tisha, who posted her own photo with the number “9” and wrote: “From numbers to voices, let us bring our stories to the world. Tell the story behind your number, raise your voice louder. People may see just a number, but I see everything I have endured and overcome.”
Since then, dozens of prominent women from film, television and music have joined:
- Runa Khan: 24
- Shabnam Fariya: 1000
- Prarthana Fardin Dighi: 3
- Moushumi Hamid: 72
- Saziya Sultana Putul: 9
- Ashna Habib Bhabna: 99+
Speaking to the media, Runa Khan said: “This is not just about celebrities. Every woman using social media is facing harassment. In the last decade, social media has reached millions, but many users never learned the rules of decent behaviour.”
She added that women were never fully safe online, but the situation has become “far worse” since the political upheaval of 5 August 2025, with systematic targeting, insults and threats now a daily reality for many.
The “My Number, My Rules” campaign will run for 16 consecutive days on social media, aiming to expose the scale of digital violence against women and force a wider conversation on accountability and online safety.
