CU ‘D’ Unit Admission Test Today: 60 Candidates to Compete for Each Seat

The admission test for the first-year undergraduate (honours) programme at Chittagong University (CU) for the 2025-26 academic session is set to be held today, Saturday. According to application data, around 60 admission-seeking students will compete for each seat in the ‘D’ Unit under the Faculty of Law and Social Sciences.

Member-Secretary of the Admission Test Committee SM Akbar Hossain said the ‘D’ Unit includes nine departments under the Faculty of Social Sciences, the Department of Law under the Faculty of Law, the Department of Education and Research, and two departments under the Faculty of Biological Sciences. The total number of seats in this unit is 849. Against these seats, 51,505 students have applied. Thus, on average, nearly 60 candidates are competing for each seat.

He further informed that to ensure smooth and safe participation of examinees, the test will be conducted simultaneously at three centres. Of these, 20,542 candidates will sit at the CU centre, 23,366 at the Dhaka University (DU) centre, and 7,597 at the Rajshahi University (RU) centre.

Instructions Examinees Must Follow:
Examinees must secure their seats by 10:30 am. They will be allowed entry into the examination centre only after showing the admit card. No candidate will be permitted entry after 11:00 am.

As per the instructions on the admit card, candidates can log in to the admission website to check their seat location 48 hours before the test for the relevant unit. The admit card must be downloaded before viewing the seat plan.

Every examinee must bring one printed copy of the downloaded admit card and the original Higher Secondary/equivalent registration card or ‘A’ Level Statement of Entry (where applicable) on the day of the admission test.

Examinees may use an FX-100 or lower standard calculator (without memory option/SIM) in the examination hall. Mobile phones, smartwatches, Bluetooth devices, or any other communication device are strictly prohibited in the examination hall. However, in the ‘B’ Unit and B-1, B-2, and D-1 sub-units, calculators are completely banned in the examination hall.

The university administration has requested all candidates, guardians, and concerned individuals not to be misled by any kind of misinformation or propaganda on social media platforms such as Facebook.

For security reasons, guardians accompanying examinees are requested to always carry their National ID or any personal identification document (if available).

Mark Distribution:
All units of the admission test are worth 100 marks. The test will be conducted through a multiple-choice system worth 100 marks. For each wrong answer, 0.25 marks will be deducted. Except for the D-1 sub-unit, the minimum pass mark for all units is 40. The minimum pass mark for the D-1 sub-unit is 35.

In the ‘D’ Unit, the distribution is as follows: Bangla or optional English 30 marks, English 30 marks, analytical skills 20 marks, and general knowledge, mathematics, or economics 20 marks.

Test Schedule:
The ‘A’ Unit admission test was held yesterday, Friday. The ‘D’ Unit test will be held on 3 January, ‘C’ Unit on 9 January, and ‘B’ Unit on 10 January. Additionally, the D-1 sub-unit test will be held on 5 January, B-1 on 7 January, and B-2 on 8 January.

It is worth mentioning that the BHATIARY INTERNATIONAL MARATHON is being organised by the Bangladesh Military Academy (BMA) in the Chittagong region. Due to this event, the Bhatiary-Hathazari Link Road will remain temporarily closed. As a result, there may be temporary disruptions to traffic movement in the university area. In this situation, the university administration has instructed examinees and their guardians to use alternative roads to reach the examination centre. The university authority has urged all concerned to be present at the examination centre well before the scheduled time and to follow the given instructions.
