BUTEX admission test for 2026-27 set for January 29

The Bangladesh University of Textiles (BUTEX) will hold its admission test for the BSc in Textile Engineering programme for the 2026-27 academic year on January 29 next year.

The university announced the date in a press release signed by Registrar Professor Dr Rasheda Begum Dina on Tuesday (September 8).

The decision was finalised at a meeting of the university’s deans and heads of departments held on Monday (September 7).

The admission eligibility criteria, GPA requirements and application process have not yet been finalised as the results of this year’s Higher Secondary Certificate (HSC) and equivalent examinations are yet to be published, according to university administration sources.

The Bangladesh University of Textiles is the country’s only specialised public university dedicated to textile engineering. It currently has 11 departments and conducts admission tests for a total of 630 seats.

The departments and their seat allocations are:

  • Wet Process Engineering: 80
  • Yarn Engineering: 80
  • Fabric Engineering: 80
  • Apparel Engineering: 80
  • Textile Engineering Management: 80
  • Textile Fashion and Design: 40
  • Industrial and Production Engineering: 40
  • Textile Machinery Design and Maintenance: 40
  • Dyes and Chemicals Engineering: 40
  • Environmental Science and Engineering: 40
  • Textile Materials Engineering: 30
