College admission application deadline extended

The deadline for applying for admission to Class XI for the 2026-27 academic year has been extended, allowing students who fail to apply by September 10 to submit applications during a second window.

The Inter-Education Board Coordination Committee announced the decision in a notice issued on Tuesday (September 8).

According to the notice, students who are unable to apply online by September 10 will be able to apply from September 12 until 8pm on September 13, alongside students whose results have changed following the re-evaluation process.

Earlier, in a notice issued on Sunday (September 6), the Inter-Education Board said four categories of students would receive special consideration in Class XI admissions for the 2026-27 academic year.

The categories are students with special needs, children of expatriates, graduates of the Bangladesh Krira Shikkha Pratisthan (BKSP), and students who have received awards for outstanding contributions to sports or cultural activities.

Students who passed the SSC examination as students with special needs will be eligible to apply manually to the respective education board for admission under the special quota.

Children of expatriates, BKSP graduates, and students who have received awards for outstanding contributions to sports or cultural activities at the divisional or national level will also be allowed to apply manually to the board.

The board will verify the supporting documents before arranging admission. In such cases, the minimum GPA requirement set by the institution may be relaxed.

Meanwhile, the 2026 admission policy provides for two categories of quotas. Under the policy, 93 percent of seats in all educational institutions will remain open to all students based on merit. Students will be selected according to merit rankings prepared from their SSC and equivalent examination results.

Of the remaining 7 percent of seats, 5 percent is reserved for sons and daughters of freedom fighters and martyred freedom fighters, while 2 percent is reserved for children of officers and employees of the Ministry of Education and its subordinate departments and agencies.
