SSC 2026
ICT Exam Reduced to 25-Mark MCQ, Bangla Drops Translation for News Report Writing

The National Curriculum and Textbook Board (NCTB) has announced significant revisions to the question structure and marks distribution for the 2026 Secondary School Certificate (SSC) and equivalent examinations in Bangla, Information and Communication Technology (ICT), and Finance and Banking. The changes were outlined in a notification issued on Monday (22 September) by NCTB Chairman Robiul Kabir Chowdhury.
According to the notification, the translation section in the creative writing part of Bangla Second Paper has been eliminated. The 10 marks previously allocated for translation will now be assigned to writing news reports.
In ICT, the short-answer question section has been removed. The 10 marks from this section have been added to the existing multiple-choice question (MCQ) section, increasing its total to 25 marks. Consequently, the entire ICT exam will now consist of 25-mark MCQs.
For Finance and Banking, a total of 15 short-answer questions will be included—8 from the Finance section and 7 from the Banking section. Students must answer 10 questions in total, including at least 4 from one of the two sections.
The revised question structure and marks distribution guidelines have been sent to relevant authorities for implementation and will take effect for the 2026 SSC examinations.
