Private Education Sector Disposable Income Reaches TK 73 Thousand Crore

The disposable income of Bangladesh’s private education sector reached 73,391 crore taka in 2023, marking a significant increase from the previous year, according to the Bangladesh Bureau of Statistics (BBS) Private Educational Institutions Survey 2024. This income is also considered as savings for the sector, reflecting its financial growth.
The survey reports that the sector’s operating surplus was 47,935.3 crore taka, higher than the previous year. The net lending capacity, indicating the sector’s ability to provide financial support to other economic sectors, stood at 67,231.2 crore taka.
In 2023, the total value added by the private education sector was 77,104 crore taka, a 9.21% increase from 2022. The sector’s total output reached 85,357.9 crore taka. However, the share of labor in this value added declined from 38.92% in 2022 to 37.83% in 2023, raising concerns among analysts about potential income inequality within the sector.
BBS Director General Mohammad Mizanur Rahman stated that the survey thoroughly analyzed private educational institutions, covering aspects such as teacher-student ratios, output, intermediate consumption, operating expenses, and savings, providing a comprehensive overview of the sector’s financial and operational dynamics.
