Holy Cross Girls' High School marks 75 years of excellence with Platinum Jubilee
Holy Cross Girls' High School, one of Bangladesh’s premier educational institutions for young women, celebrated its Platinum Jubilee from January 8–10, 2026. Under the theme “Honoring the Past and Inspiring the Future,” the three-day festival commemorated 75 years of faith, learning, and service since its founding in 1951.
The grand event brought together current students, faculty, and thousands of alumnae from across the globe to reflect on a legacy that began with just two students and has since shaped generations of female leaders.
Day 1: Honoring the Founders (January 8)
The festivities commenced with a tribute to the school’s visionary leadership.

Mural Unveiling: A mural featuring Blessed Basil Anthony Mary Moreau, CSC (founder of the Holy Cross Congregation) and Sister Augustine Marie, CSC (foundress and first headmistress), was unveiled.

Mandira Magazine: The school’s special jubilee magazine, Mandira, was launched, along with the History Wall, which chronicles the school’s 75-year journey.

Entertainment: The day closed with an art exhibition and high-energy performances by the bands Franklin and Shironamhin.
Day 2: Faith, Sacrifice, and Culture (January 9)
The second day blended spiritual gratitude with national heritage.

Solemn Mass: A Thanksgiving Mass was led by Most Rev. Bejoy N. D’Cruze, OMI, Archbishop of Dhaka, attended by the Chief Guest, His Excellency Archbishop Kevin Stuart Randall, the Apostolic Nuncio to Bangladesh.

Language Martyrs’ Monument: In a significant ceremony, a new monument was unveiled to honor the Language Martyrs of 1952.

Cultural Highlights: A documentary chronicling the school’s expansion was presented. The evening featured performances by world-renowned dancers Shibli Mohammad and Shamim Ara Nipa, followed by Tagore’s musical drama Chitrangada.
Day 3: Alumnae Reunion and Grand Finale (January 10)
The final day was dedicated to the reunion of the "Holy Cross Family," filled with nostalgia and recognition.

Alumnae Awards: "Best Achievement Awards" were presented to distinguished alumnae, including national film icon Alamgir, and celebrated figures such as Nasheed Kamal, Rumana Rashid Ishita, and Tasnia Farin.

Address by Sr. Joy O’Grady: Sister Joy O’Grady, CSC, former President of the Sisters of the Holy Cross, delivered an inspiring keynote on the school’s commitment to female empowerment.

Concert and Closing: The jubilee concluded with electrifying performances by Nadia Dora and Pritom Hasan. Sister Kolpona Costa, CSC, the Headmistress, officially closed the celebrations with a prayer of gratitude.
