Bangladesh recorded a historic milestone in the international academic arena as all 27 members of the national mathematics delegation secured awards at the prestigious World Mathematics Invitational (WMI) 2026, held in Chiba, Japan. The flawless campaign marks the first time a Bangladeshi contingent has achieved a 100% success rate at the global event, setting a new benchmark for the country's STEM disciplines.

The high-profile international Olympiad drew over 2,300 elite young competitors representing more than 30 nations. The comprehensive scouting, training, and delegation logistics for the Bangladesh national team were managed by the mathematics platform Banglar Math.

Competing against global top-tier talent, the Bangladeshi squad claimed a total of 27 medals and honorary accolades. The final award tally comprises two Diamond Awards, two Gold Medals, six Silver Medals, 14 Bronze Medals, three Merit Awards, and one Grade Top 3 (International Second Place) trophy.

Four individual competitors delivered standout performances on the international stage. Ahbab Zulkifal Zahin clinched the tournament's top honor, the Diamond Award. Jeet Bala secured a double victory, winning a Diamond Award alongside finishing second globally in the Grade Top 3 category. Sajidul Haq captured a Gold Medal and was additionally honored with the "Star of the World Award" for registering the highest score within the Bangladesh national team, while Rahid Azad Ahan secured another prestigious Gold Medal for the country.

Reflecting on the achievement, Ahmed Shahriar, Co-founder of Banglar Math, remarked:

"Our objective extends beyond winning medals; we aim to foster a generation capable of leading globally through logic, creativity, and systematic problem-solving. This milestone represents a significant advancement toward that long-term vision."

Team Head Coach and Co-founder Mohd. Ashraful Al Shakur extended his congratulations to the squad, stating:

"This achievement is the culmination of months of rigorous practice, intensive student dedication, and critical support from guardians. We are confident that Bangladesh will continue to excel and break records in upcoming international mathematical tournaments."

The national squad was finalized following the countrywide "Banglar Math Excellence Championship (BMEC) 2026" organized earlier this year. Thousands of applicants from various districts were evaluated through multiple competitive screening rounds and a stringent Team Selection Test (TST) to filter out the final 27 representatives.

The selected students subsequently underwent advanced residential training and preparation modules under the technical supervision of Banglar Math. The University of Asia Pacific (UAP) served as the official venue partner for the national initiative, while The Daily Campus acted as the media partner of Team Bangladesh.
