Education Adviser Prof Dr C R Abrar has said Bangladesh currently holds the fourth position among 176 scouting nations globally, describing the achievement as a matter of pride for the country.

He highlighted that Bangladeshi scouts are providing leadership in various committees and sub-committees of the Asia-Pacific region, reflecting national capability.

The adviser made the remarks as chief guest at a ceremony organised by Bangladesh Scouts in the capital on Saturday to distribute national-level awards.

Prof Abrar emphasised that scouting is not merely about earning badges but an exceptional training platform for character building, instilling human values, leadership, responsibility and community service skills. He praised scouts for their unique role in disaster response, standing beside people across the country during cyclones, floods, fires and other crises.

He stressed the need to expand scouting further to produce self-reliant and service-oriented citizens.

Remembering the sacrifices made during the July uprising, the adviser said the martyrdom of 11 scouts and the injuries sustained by others continue to inspire the building of a new Bangladesh, providing courage and motivation to future generations.

Special guest at the event was Md Ehsan-ul Haq, senior secretary of the Ministry of Public Administration and adviser to the interim National Executive Committee of Bangladesh Scouts.

The programme was chaired by Bangladesh Scouts President and Senior Secretary of the Ministry of Home Affairs Nasimul Gani.

During the ceremony, Shapla Cub Award, President Scout Award and President’s Rover Scout Award were handed over to scout members from various districts.
