The official results of the Chittagong University Central Students’ Union (CUCSU) election were announced today, with the Islami Chhatra Shibir-backed "Sompritir Shikkharthi Jote" panel securing 24 of 26 posts, including vice president (VP) and general secretary (GS). The assistant general secretary (AGS) and joint sports secretary posts were won by Chatra Dal-backed candidates. Results for 14 halls and one hostel were declared around 5:00am on Wednesday, October 15, 2025.

Ibrahim Hossain Rony won the VP post with 7,984 votes, and Saeed Bin Habib secured the GS position with 8,031 votes, marking a significant victory for the Shibir-backed panel after three decades. Chatra Dal’s Ayubur Rahman Taufik won AGS with 7,014 votes. Other winners from the Shibir panel include Abdullah Al Noman (Department Secretary), Jannatul Adnan Nusrat (Joint Department Secretary), Mohammad Shaon (Sports Secretary), Tamanna Mahbub Preeti (Joint Sports Secretary), Harez Matbbar (Literature and Culture Secretary), Jihad Ahnaf (Joint Literature and Culture Secretary), Mahima Akter Deepa (Girls Welfare Secretary), Jannatul Ferdous Rita (Joint Girls Welfare Secretary), Md. Mahbubur Rahman (Science and Technology Secretary), and Tanvir Anjuk Shobhan (Joint Communication and Technology).

The election concluded peacefully, but tensions arose before the announcement when Chatra Dal activists protested at the IT Building around 1:00am, demanding manual vote counting for two halls. Voting occurred from 9:00am to 4:00pm on Tuesday, October 14, across 15 centres with 61 booths, recording a 60% turnout among 27,516 eligible voters (39.1% women). Despite a smooth process, minor unrest occurred near the university’s Gate No. 1, where BNP and Jamaat activists, supporting Chatra Dal and Chhatra Shibir respectively, gathered. No untoward incidents were reported, and BGB was deployed on campus by night to maintain order.
