NU Orders First-Year Classes to Begin June 2, Vacation Ends on June 6!

A significant wave of confusion has emerged among newly admitted students over the commencement date of honors first-year classes for the 2025-26 academic session under the National University (NU). While the initial central admission guidelines explicitly stated that fresh academic sessions would begin on June 2, affiliated colleges nationwide remain closed for the holy Eid-ul-Azha vacations until June 6.

This overlapping scheduling conflict has left thousands of incoming undergraduates deeply perplexed regarding when to report for their inaugural classes.

According to official holiday schedules published by various affiliated colleges, all academic class activities under the National University are suspended from today, May 24, until June 4 for Eid-ul-Azha. Following the expiration of the festival holidays, June 5 and June 6 fall on Friday and Saturday, which are standard weekly closures.

Consequently, individual college authorities have formally notified their respective student bodies that regular institutional routines will only resume from June 7. This timeline stands in direct opposition to the earlier central notification from the university headquarters, creating a severe operational bottleneck.

Despite the complete suspension of classroom lectures, college administrations have confirmed that routine desk operations will continue through the vacation window. Barring designated government holidays, administrative staff will remain on duty to facilitate ongoing form-fill-ups and finalize the concluding phases of the admission cycle.

The university management had just released the highly anticipated second merit list on Thursday, May 21, following the completion of data verification from the initial merit selection. Incoming candidates are instructed to complete their mandatory online registration, clear the structural admission fees, and secure institutional confirmation within the strict timelines provided.

While the central National University administration has yet to release an official clarification or amendment regarding the June 2 start date, affiliated colleges have taken independent steps to resolve the logistical mismatch. Faculty members from various institutions have indicated that commencing academic lectures in empty, locked-down campuses remains impossible.

Speaking to the media, Shamsul Huda Chowdhury, Assistant Professor of Mathematics and member of the Honors Admission Committee at Sherpur Government College, confirmed that their institution will officially welcome the fresh batch on June 7. Circulars issued by surrounding government and non-government colleges confirm a unanimous local consensus to push the orientation schedules to the first post-vacation working day.
