BRAC University Expels Student for Attacking Teacher, Classmates

Chaos erupted at BRAC University as Mehedi Hasan Ovi, a student accused of repeatedly unleashing aggressive and disruptive behavior on a teacher and classmates, has been temporarily expelled. The university’s Proctor’s Office dropped the bombshell in a notice on Monday, August 18, 2025, sending shockwaves through the campus.
According to the notice, Ovi’s antics during the “EEE309” course included multiple instances of disorderly conduct, unauthorized recording, and disrupting the academic environment. These actions, deemed a blatant violation of BRAC University’s policies and code of conduct, posed a threat to the community’s safety and dignity. The notice didn’t mince words: Ovi is immediately barred from all classes and banned from campus until further notice.
University sources revealed the drama unfolded in the Summer 2025 semester’s EEE309 course, led by Dr. Touhidur Rahman of the Electrical and Electronic Engineering Department. Ovi faces allegations of shouting in class, kicking doors, threatening Dr. Rahman, recording lectures without permission, and physically assaulting classmates. An anonymous classmate spilled to The Daily Campus, “He stormed into class, shoved his phone in Dr. Rahman’s face, and started yelling like some street thug. It was terrifying.”
The most explosive incident occurred on August 17, 2025, during a lecture on “diffusion.” Witnesses say Ovi grabbed Dr. Rahman’s personal flute and tried to break it before physically attacking classmates Fardin Rahman, Sanjid Ahmed, and Nusrat Jahan. The entire episode was caught on campus CCTV, adding fuel to the fire. Multiple students corroborated the account, painting a picture of a classroom turned battleground.
BRAC authorities have handed the matter to the Disciplinary Committee, with a full investigation underway. If the allegations hold, permanent measures loom for Ovi, whose actions have left the university reeling.
