Iran has reopened six key airports after partially lifting restrictions on its airspace.
The Association of Aeronautical Airlines of Iran confirmed the development on Saturday (18 April 2026), according to Al Jazeera.
The reopened airports include:
- Tehran’s two main international airports — Imam Khomeini International Airport and Mehrabad International Airport
- Airports in Mashhad, Birjand, Gorgan, and Zahedan
Iran’s Civil Aviation Authority stated that the eastern airspace has now been opened for international transit flights. Airlines are preparing to resume both domestic and international operations, subject to technical clearance from military and civil authorities.
The decision comes after Iran closed its airspace following US-Israeli attacks in February. Analysts view the reopening positively in the context of the current ceasefire and ongoing peace talks mediated by Pakistan and Turkey.
