Mymensingh Tops BCS Cadre List; Dhaka Ranks Fourth
Mymensingh has emerged as the most successful district in the country for producing BCS cadres, consistently outperforming other regions over the last four civil service recruitment cycles. According to the recently published annual report of the Public Service Commission (PSC), a total of 416 candidates from Mymensingh were recommended for various cadre positions across the 44th, 45th, 48th (Special), and 49th (Special) BCS examinations.
Out of 7,651 total candidates recommended across these four exams, Mymensingh remains the clear leader, followed by Chittagong with 401 cadres and Comilla with 374. Dhaka district, despite its central importance, ranks fourth in the country with 349 successful candidates.
The top ten list of districts is rounded out by Bogra in fifth place with 259 cadres, followed by Rajshahi with 230, Tangail with 214, and Rangpur with 203 cadres. The final spots in the top ten are held by Kishoreganj and Sirajganj, which produced 182 and 177 cadres respectively.
The performance of these districts often shifted based on the nature of the exam; for instance, in the 48th Special (Health) BCS, Chittagong district took the lead with 229 recommendations, while Mymensingh reclaimed the top spot in the 49th Special (Education) BCS with 32 successful candidates.
On a broader scale, Dhaka Division remains the powerhouse of the civil service recruitment process, producing a total of 1,565 cadres across the four examinations. Chittagong Division follows in second place with 1,471 cadres, and Rajshahi Division ranks third with 1,200.
Other divisions include Khulna with 986, Rangpur with 929, Mymensingh with 809, and Barisal with 462 cadres. In contrast, Sylhet Division recorded the lowest number of successful candidates in the country, with only 229 individuals recommended for cadre posts across all four analyzed BCS cycles.
The data reveals that while Dhaka Division dominates as a whole, specific districts like Mymensingh and Comilla consistently maintain a high level of success in these competitive examinations. In the 48th Special (Health) BCS, Chittagong Division briefly surpassed Dhaka by securing 778 cadre positions compared to Dhaka’s 727.
However, the overall trend confirms that candidate concentrations remain highest in the central and northern districts of the country, reflecting a significant regional disparity in civil service recruitment outcomes.
