Tensions have reached a boiling point at Patuakhali Science and Technology University (PSTU) as a group of pro-BNP teachers, officers, and employees were allegedly attacked by another faction of the same political leaning during an ongoing protest demanding the Vice-Chancellor's resignation.

The incident occurred today, Monday (May 11), during a pre-scheduled protest program. Victims allege that a local pro-BNP group, acting in support of the Vice-Chancellor, launched a sudden assault on the demonstrators.

According to witnesses, the clash broke out unexpectedly as the protesters gathered to press their demands. Several teachers, officers, and staff members sustained injuries during the scuffle and were forced to flee the scene.

Insiders suggest that the conflict is a fallout of internal feuds between the Vice-Chancellor and the Pro-Vice-Chancellor, both of whom reportedly share pro-BNP affiliations. This administrative discord has increasingly destabilized the campus environment over the past few weeks.

Following the attack, the university unit of Jatiyatabadi Chhatra Dal (JCD) brought out a protest procession on campus. The student leaders condemned the assault and demanded an immediate investigation and punishment for those involved.

To prevent further escalation, law enforcement agencies have significantly increased their presence on campus. Police patrols have been intensified at key administrative points to maintain order.

Vice-Chancellor Professor Dr. Kazi Rafiqul Islam, who is currently away from the campus, addressed the situation over the phone.

"I am currently in Dhaka to attend a government event. Taking advantage of my absence, a certain quarter is attempting to destabilize the campus. Once I return, I will form an investigation committee to look into the matter." — VC Professor Dr. Kazi Rafiqul Islam

The university administration has not yet released an official statement regarding the extent of the injuries or the identity of the attackers. However, the general student body remains concerned as the administrative stalemate continues to disrupt academic activities.
