Constable who taunted “Come, take Hadi’s body” identified as Rashed Kazi
During Friday’s (6 February) clash on the Jamuna march route, protesters say a police constable taunted them with an aggressive dare: “Ay, ay, Hadi’r lash niye ja,” meaning “Come (if you can), take Hadi’s body.” They have identified him as Constable Rashed Kazi, son of Amjad Kazi, from Nebudia village under Terokhada Police Station, Khulna; police ID BP0323242210. Protesters allege he was active in the Jatiyatabadi Chhatra Dal during college and kept posting pro-BNP content on Facebook after joining the force.
Inqilab Mancha claims police fired rubber bullets, injuring member-secretary Abdullah Al Jaber, and knocked down and stomped DUCSU Liberation War and Democratic Movement Secretary Fatema Tasnim Juma. A video of the taunt, filmed as protesters regrouped in the TMSS Nursing Institute alley at Paribagh, spread widely and led activists to name Kazi.
His Facebook profile (now locked) showed claimed joining Dhaka Metropolitan Police on 16 April 2025 and Rajarbagh Police Lines on 29 August; separate checks suggest he actually joined on 8 February 2023. Four months into the job he was still posting JCD reminiscences, including a 21 August note tagging JCD leader Sheikh Nishan and “North Khulna College JCD (former and current leaders).” His profile lists Khulna Zilla School and Govt B.L. College; no independent confirmation of North Khulna College beyond that post. Calls to his number went unanswered.
Protesters have given police an ultimatum to act against Kazi and several officers. At about 8:45pm in Hadi Chattar, Shahbagh, DUCSU Social Service Secretary A.B. Zubair accused “July attackers” within police of beating and even dancing over the wounded. He said a list of identified officers was handed to police and demanded action within one hour, vowing they are ready to risk their lives repeatedly for justice for Osman Hadi.
