Non-government teachers and employees under the Monthly Pay Order (MPO) system are poised to receive a substantial salary increment under the government's upcoming 9th National Pay Scale. Financial sector sources indicate that the government has nearly finalized a budget allocation of approximately 35,000 crore BDT for the execution of the new pay structure. The structural blueprint proposes a standard 50% basic salary hike for higher tiers, alongside strong discussions regarding a potential 100% basic salary jump for employees positioned between the 11th and 20th grades.

Because the national exchequer finances the core basic component of MPO salaries, the revised scales will immediately apply to non-government educational institutions. Under the proposed 50% basic salary increment model, a fourth-grade college principal's current basic salary of 50,000 BDT will see a steep upward revision to 75,000 BDT.

Similarly, a sixth-grade assistant professor will see their 35,500 BDT basic salary rise to 53,250 BDT, while a seventh-grade vice principal or headmaster will experience a jump from 29,000 BDT to 43,500 BDT. Ninth-grade college lecturers will see their monthly basic transition from 22,000 BDT to 33,000 BDT, and tenth-grade assistant teachers holding a B.Ed. degree will see their 16,000 BDT baseline elevate to 24,000 BDT.

The final financial impact for employees in the 11th to 20th grades remains subject to two separate implementation scenarios depending on the final budget approval. For eleventh-grade assistant teachers without a B.Ed., the current basic of 12,500 BDT will climb to 18,750 BDT under a 50% hike or touch 25,000 BDT under a 100% implementation.

In the sixteenth grade, office assistants and computer operators will see their existing basic of 9,300 BDT rise to 13,950 BDT under a 50% bump or double to 18,600 BDT under a 100% adjustment. Eighteenth-grade lab assistants will scale up from 8,800 BDT to either 13,200 BDT or 17,600 BDT, while twentieth-grade support staff like security guards and office assistants will see their entry-level basic of 8,250 BDT elevate to 12,375 BDT with a 50% boost or peak at 16,500 BDT under the 100% scenario.

MPO teacher association leaders have voiced strong optimism regarding the structural revisions, noting that the current market conditions have made living on existing salaries mathematically unfeasible. They urge the Ministry of Finance to officially sanction the higher percentage brackets in the upcoming national budget to permanently eliminate long-standing wage discrimination.
