MPO teachers’ August salary bill sent to AG office, payment likely next week

The Education Ministry has approved the salary bill for August for MPO-listed teachers and employees of private schools and colleges. The bill has now been sent to the Accountant General (AG) office for approval, after which the funds will be transferred through Bangladesh Bank to the banks responsible for distributing the government grants.

A source at the Directorate of Secondary and Higher Education (DSHE) said the Education Minister Dr ANM Ehsanul Haque Milan signed the August salary and allowance bill on Wednesday morning (September 2). The ministry subsequently sent the government order (GO) to DSHE, which forwarded it to the AG office in the afternoon.

If the AG office approves the bill, teachers and employees may receive their August salaries next week, the source said.

Asked about the matter, DSHE Director (Finance and Procurement) Professor Mohammad Monir Hossain Patwari told The Daily Campus, “The August salary and allowance bill for teachers and employees has been sent to the AG office. They will receive their salaries after the AG office gives approval.”

Every month, heads of educational institutions submit salary proposals for teachers and employees. After online bills are submitted, they are scrutinised and processed in coordination with the Ministry of Finance before the funds are released.

Following final approval from the Ministry of Finance, the authorities send the salary and allowance funds to the banks for disbursement to MPO-listed teachers and employees.

The government has introduced a digital bill submission and approval system to ensure regular payment of salaries and allowances to MPO-listed teachers and employees. The system is intended to make the processing of salary and allowance payments more transparent.
