Nearly 15,000 candidates, who were finally recommended for the 2025 Primary Assistant Teacher recruitment but have yet to receive appointments or postings, have announced their decision to launch a street protest. In a statement issued today, Thursday (April 23), the candidates declared a continuous sit-in program in front of the National Museum in Shahbagh, starting this Sunday, April 26.

The recommended candidates stated that despite being selected based on merit after a long wait, a significant amount of time has passed since the results were published without any effective steps taken for their appointment. On the contrary, they expressed extreme mental anxiety due to what they described as "farcical" responses from the authorities.

The candidates noted that they were finally recommended on February 8 following re-investigations by intelligence agencies and the directorate. Since then, they have submitted all necessary documents and completed medical examinations. Many even resigned from their previous jobs in anticipation of joining, leaving them in a state of severe uncertainty.

Previously, recommended candidates—including former and current students of Dhaka University—held a press conference in front of the University Central Library to draw the authorities' attention. When asked about the matter, the Minister of Primary and Mass Education told reporters that the previous government had finalized this recruitment process.

In their statement, the candidates alleged that remarks made by the Minister of State for Primary and Mass Education in various media outlets on April 22 reflected a "wavering" stance regarding the recruitment process. In protest, the candidates have withdrawn their previously announced 10-day ultimatum and decided to move directly into agitation. According to the announcement, the continuous sit-in program will begin in an orderly manner at 11:00 AM this Sunday, April 26, in front of the National Museum at Shahbagh to demand their rightful appointments.
