State Minister for Fisheries and Livestock Sultan Salauddin Tuku has said the government is working to transform primary teaching into a desirable and dignified career. He emphasized that primary education forms the foundation of a nation, and the administration is giving it the highest priority while taking steps to make the profession more respectable and appealing so that talented individuals are drawn to it.

Tuku made the remarks on Saturday (7 March) afternoon while addressing the prize distribution ceremony for outstanding teachers and students, as well as the annual sports competition, organized under the temple-based child and mass education program. The event took place in the conference room of the Tangail Deputy Commissioner.

He said: “Before the election we promised that education would receive the utmost importance. Primary education is the foundation of a nation. Therefore, we are shaping the primary teaching profession in such a way that it becomes an attractive and dignified career, encouraging meritorious people to join it.”

The minister highlighted the importance of the temple-based education initiative at the grassroots level. He said it plays a vital role in building moral values, humanity, and social responsibility among students while also helping them improve their academic skills.

Tuku added that in Bangladesh there is no distinction between majority and minority. “We are all Bangladeshis. Everyone must work together for the development and progress of the country.” He assured full cooperation from the government on any matter concerning the Sanatan (Hindu) community.

The program was presided over by Tangail Deputy Commissioner Sharifa Haque. Among others present were Additional Deputy Commissioner (General) Sanjay Kumar Mohanta, Additional Superintendent of Police (Administration and Finance) Md. Robiul Islam, Hindu Religious Welfare Trust Trustee Shyamal Hor, Project Director of the Temple-Based Child and Mass Education Program Ramesh Chandra Sarkar, along with administration officials, teachers, students, and dignitaries.

At the end of the event, the state minister handed over prizes to the best teachers, students, and winners of the sports competitions.
