The National University has taken disciplinary action against 123 students for malpractice and cheating in the 2023 Degree (Pass) and Certificate Course 3rd Year examinations. The final decisions were made during the university's Examination Discipline Committee meeting held on 2 February, after careful review of answer scripts, explanations from the accused, and seized evidence of cheating.

A memorandum published on Monday (23 February) detailed the punishments. The meeting was chaired by Vice-Chancellor and Committee President Dr. A.S.M. Amanullah.

Among the 123 accused students:

  • 92 had their entire examination for the year cancelled.
  • 22 students were punished under Clause ‘ঙ’ — their exam for the year was cancelled, and they were barred from appearing in any examination for the next 4 years.
  • 4 students were punished under Clause ‘দ’ — similar cancellation plus a 4-year ban.
  • The remaining students received bans ranging from 1 to 4 years depending on the severity of the offence.

The actions were based on complaints from invigilators, centre-in-charges, and chief examiners, along with analysis of confiscated cheating materials.
