Health condition of Nurul Haque Nur, President of Gono Odhikar Parishad,  is gradually improving, according to Dhaka Medical College (DMC) Hospital Director Brigadier General Md. Asaduzzaman. Speaking to journalists on Sunday, August 31, 2025, he provided an update on Nur’s condition following his admission due to severe injuries sustained during a violent clash.

Md. Asaduzzaman stated that Nur remains under close medical observation. “His condition is improving slowly, but some physical complications persist,” he said. Four primary issues have been identified: a fractured nasal bone, a fractured jaw, an eye injury, and cerebral hemorrhage. However, he noted that the brain hemorrhage is gradually subsiding with treatment.

“The latest CT scan reports are encouraging,” the director added. “Although Nur is still experiencing some trauma, his condition is improving step by step.”

Nur’s treatment is being overseen by a six-member medical board, with doctors regularly monitoring his overall condition, Md. Asaduzzaman confirmed.

The injuries stem from a clash on Friday night, August 29, 2025, around 9:00 PM, between activists of the Jatiya Party and Gono Odhikar Parishad in front of Al Razi Tower in Dhaka’s Kakrail. During the incident, law enforcement personnel baton-charged the crowd, severely injuring Nur and several other activists. Members of Gono Odhikar Parishad rescued Nur from the scene and rushed him to DMC Hospital for treatment.
