Tasnim Jara Raises Over Tk 23 Lakh in 14 Hours for Election Campaign
Dr Tasnim Jara, candidate for Dhaka-9 constituency and Senior Joint Member Secretary of the National Citizen Party (NCP), has received more than Tk 23 lakh in donations within just 14 hours of her crowdfunding appeal.
On Tuesday (December 23) around 1:00 pm, the NCP leader shared the update on her verified Facebook account.
In the post, Dr Jara wrote, "In just 14 hours, you have donated Tk 23.68 lakh, which is more than half of our fundraising target. We are overwhelmed by your unprecedented response and love. Our target is Tk 46,93,580. As soon as this is met, we will stop the fundraising."
She also provided an urgent update: "Our bKash account limit expires at 2:00 am tonight. Those who still wish to donate but cannot due to the bKash issue are requested to use our bank account instead."
Dr Jara reiterated her commitment to transparency from the start. "I promised that this fundraising would be fully transparent. How are we ensuring that?
- We are accepting donations only via bKash and bank transfers, not cash. This creates a record of every taka received, controlled by Bangladesh Bank rather than my team. These records will be verifiable in the future.
- We are regularly updating you on the total amount collected so far and the breakdown by channel. All these documents will be submitted to the Election Commission, which can verify them.
- We will clearly inform you about expenditure in each category."
She added that any further suggestions for ensuring transparency are welcome.
