DU classes to continue online, start date announced
Dhaka University (DU) administration has decided to resume all academic activities through online classes to keep teaching and learning uninterrupted.
In a notice signed by Deputy Director (Public Relations) Farrukh Mahmud and issued today, Saturday (29 November), the university announced that online classes will begin from tomorrow, Sunday, 30 November.
The notice states: “All levels of academic activities at Dhaka University will continue normally through online platforms from 30 November (Sunday). Chairpersons of departments and directors of institutes will coordinate with respective deans to start online classes in their units. Online classes will continue until further notice.”
It further said that a decision on the winter vacation will be taken later, based on the recommendations of an inspection team of engineers assessing buildings damaged by the recent earthquake and aftershocks.
The university urges all concerned to cooperate in ensuring uninterrupted academic activities.
Earlier, following an emergency meeting on the night of 22 November after the earthquake, DU was declared closed until 6 December (Saturday). All classes and examinations were suspended and residential halls were ordered evacuated. Students were initially asked to vacate halls by 5:00pm the next day (23 November).
