BPL Auction: 14 New Cricketers Added, Several Category Changes Announced

The much-awaited players’ auction for the 12th edition of the Bangladesh Premier League (BPL) will be held today Sunday (30 November) at 4:00pm at a five-star hotel in the capital – the first auction in nearly 12 years after the inaugural two seasons in 2012 and 2013.

Ahead of the auction, the BPL Governing Council has finalised the list by dropping nine cricketers previously accused of spot-fixing in the last edition and adding 14 new names.

Dropped players (fixing allegations): Enamul Haque Bijoy, Shafiul Islam, Sanjamul Islam, Mizanur Rahman, Mosaddek Hossain Saikat, Alauddin Babu, Ariful Haque, Nihaduzzaman, and Al-Amin Hossain (the latter two were not even in the initial list).

Newly added 14 cricketers:

  • Category C: Aliss Al Islam
  • Category E: Md Rubel, Ashraful Hasan Rohan, Ahmed Sharif, Iftekhar Hossain Ifti, Tawfique Khan Tushar
  • Category F: Rubel Hossain (national team pacer), Ashraful Islam Siam, Ali Md Walid, Al-Amin Jr, Nuhayel Sandid, Hossain Ali, Shamsul Islam Anik, Zahid Javed

Category upgrades/downgrades: Promoted from E to D: Mahfuzur Rahman Rabbi, Abdul Gaffar Saklain, SM Mehrab Hossain, Sheikh Parvez Jibon, Fazle Mahmud Rabbi, Mushfiq Hasan, Irfan Shukkur, Shahadat Hossain Dipu, Ariful Islam

Promoted from F to E: Abu Zayed Chowdhury Rahi, Wasi Siddiquee, Marshall Ayub, Abdul Mazid, Ahrar Amin, Aich Mollah, Asadullah Al Galib

Demoted from D to E: Mukidul Islam Mughdho (only player demoted)

The auction will feature five franchises – Dhaka Capitals, Chattogram Royals, Rajshahi Warriors, Rangpur Riders and Sylhet Titans – in a transparent bidding process aligned with global T20 standards.

All eyes are now on the Grand Ballroom of Radisson Blu Water Garden as the BPL enters a new era with the return of the players’ auction after more than a decade.
