Following the conclusion of the Holy Eid-ul-Azha celebrations across the country, all public and private offices reopened today, Monday. On the very first working day, the Directorate of Madrasa Education (DME) officially initiated the administrative process to disburse the monthly salaries and allowances for May to teachers and staff members of Monthly Pay Order (MPO) enlisted private madrasas.

A senior official from the DME, speaking on the condition of anonymity, confirmed the development, noting that the management is actively processing the payroll so that the educators can withdraw their financial dues at the earliest possible timeframe.

The directorate official stated that the primary objective is to ensure that the madrasa teachers and employees receive their salaries for May within the current week. While the department is fast-tracking the internal paperwork, the official noted that if unexpected technical delays occur, the disbursement will definitely be completed by the following week without further extension.

According to standard operational guidelines, it typically requires approximately five working days to clear the funds once the formal salary requisition slips are submitted to the Technical and Madrasa Education Division of the Ministry of Education. Due to this mandatory processing window, there remains a slight statistical probability that the physical bank transfers might spill over into the next week, though the directorate is pushing to bypass additional delays.

Previously, prior to the national celebration of Eid-ul-Azha on May 28, the MPO-enlisted private madrasa teachers and employees had repeatedly demanded the clearance of their May salaries ahead of the festival. Although ministry officials had made programmatic attempts to execute the advance payments, logistical constraints ultimately prevented the pre-Eid disbursement. At the time, the administration had pledged to streamline the clearing process within the first week of June, a commitment they have initiated on the opening working day of the month.

The ongoing payroll execution covers a massive structural network across the country’s religious education system. There are currently 8,229 MPO-enlisted private madrasas operating across Bangladesh. The institutional breakdown includes 5,767 Dakhil-level madrasas, 1,285 Alim-level madrasas, 993 Fazil-level madrasas, and 184 Kamil-level institutions. Approximately 120,000 active teachers and staff members are employed across these institutions, all of whom are awaiting the electronic fund transfers to their registered bank accounts.
